Research Scientist, Biology & Data Analysis

Position Summary

The Research Scientist, Biology & Data Analysis will play a key role in Rapalogix’s growing R&D function by centralizing, analyzing, and interpreting multi-modal datasets across preclinical, clinical, and consumer studies, with a particular focus on quantifying and interpreting image- and assay-based readouts (e.g., histology and related experimental outputs).

This role will focus on building and maintaining reproducible analytical workflows, performing applied statistical analyses, and partnering closely with scientific leadership to generate insights that inform product strategy and development.

Unlike traditional research positions, this is a hands-on, cross-functional role that combines scientific execution and interpretation with practical data analysis, including support for experimental design. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, translational environment, contributing directly to how Rapalogix connects biology, data, and product innovation. This role is best suited for a scientist who enjoys combininghands-on biological thinking with practical quantitative analysis, rather than developing novel machine learning architectures from scratch.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate and manage diverse datasets (imaging, molecular/functional assays, clinical outcomes, and consumer data) to generate unified, analyzable data structures, including quantification of image-based and histology outputs.

• Design experiments for relevant function, including endpoint selection, success criteria, and analysis planning for new preclinical and consumer studies.

• Build, maintain, and optimize reproducible analysis workflows (e.g., notebooks, scripts, structured datasets); ensure data provenance, documentation, and version control.

• Conduct applied statistical analyses and exploratory modeling to link biological mechanisms to preclinical, clinical, and consumer outcomes (e.g., trend analysis, endpoint comparisons, correlation/association analyses, and fit-for-purpose models).

• Create technical visualizations and reports that clearly communicate insights to R&D leadership and cross-functional partners.

• Apply and/or adapt established tools and methods for image analysis and quantification to support R&D readouts and downstream interpretation.

• Support alignment between experimental design and data collection to ensure scientific and operational consistency.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to prepare evidence packages that inform formulation, product iteration, and claims development.

Qualifications

Required

• PhD in Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, or a related life sciences discipline with strong quantitative/data analysis experience (postdoctoral or equivalent industry experience preferred).

• 2-5 years of experience generating, integrating, and analyzing biological datasets from research studies (e.g., imaging/histology, functional assays, molecular assays, clinical/consumer data).

• Strong proficiency in Python or R for applied analysis; experience with notebooks, version control, and reproducible workflows.

• Experience working with image-derived datasets and/or quantitative analysis of experimental readouts (e.g., histology or related imaging outputs).

• Experience in designing or analyzing preclinical studies and translating biological findings into actionable insights.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to synthesize technical data into clear, scientifically sound outputs.

• Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high-growth, fast-moving environment.

Preferred

• Background in skin biology, dermatology, or longevity research.

• Experience with consumer science datasets and translating findings into testable hypotheses and study designs.

• Familiarity with basic data engineering and dashboarding (e.g., SQL, workflow orchestration, or data visualization tools).

• Prior experience in an early-stage biotech, consumer health, or startup environment.

Compensation

• Base Salary: $100,000-$115,000 (commensurate with experience)

• Bonus: Annual bonus target tied to performance

• Equity: Competitive early-stage equity package

Benefits

• 16 Company holidays and unlimited vacation policy

• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with fully employer-paid options for employees

• Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

• Flexible spending accounts and health savings account

• Adoption assistance

• Short & long-term disability coverage

• Basic life & AD&D insurance, plus voluntary life insurance
