Director of Finance

Position Summary

The Director of Finance will serve as the day-to-day leader of the finance function, with broad ownership across accounting, financial planning and reporting, operational finance, and financial systems. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and scalability of Rapalogix’s financial operations while acting as a trusted partner to executive leadership.

This position requires a high degree of autonomy and judgment. The Director of Finance will independently manage core finance and accounting activities, develop financial insights to support decision-making, and proactively identify risks and opportunities as the company scales through product launch and commercialization.

The successful candidate will be comfortable operating as the primary internal owner of finance execution, while collaborating closely with the CFO on strategy, governance, and longer-term planning.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting, Compliance, and Close

• Lead and oversee all day-to-day accounting activities, systems, and processes, including coordination and management of outsourced accounting partners.

• Own monthly and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and GAAP compliance.

• Manage general ledger, accounts payable, payroll and expense reimbursement approvals, accounts receivable, cash application, and related controls.

• Oversee inventory and raw materials accounting, forecasting, purchase orders, and reconciliations during early commercial scale.

• Conduct GAAP and technical accounting research relevant to the business.

• Lead external financial audit preparation and serve as primary interface with external auditors.

• Oversee tax preparation, compliance, and reporting in partnership with external advisors, including implementation and ongoing management of tax systems.

Financial Reporting and Executive Support

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.

• Own the monthly financial reporting package, including variance analysis, KPIs, dashboards, and executive-level summaries.

• Prepare financial materials for executive leadership, the board, and external partners.

• Serve as the primary internal point of contact for financial data, reporting, and analysis across the organization.

Financial Planning, Budgeting, and Analysis

• Own annual budgeting, interim forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes, including revenue, gross margin, operating expense, and cash flow models.

• Develop and maintain scenario models, sensitivity analyses, and decision-support tools to inform executive and board-level decisions.

• Lead financial analysis related to pricing, unit economics, product profitability, and commercialization initiatives.

• Independently identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities, and translate insights into clear recommendations for leadership.

Operational Finance and Business Partnering

• Act as a finance business partner to leaders across commercial, R&D, operations, and G&A.

• Provide financial guidance on resource allocation, spend management, and ROI across both commercial initiatives and R&D programs.

• Lead unit economics analysis, margin improvement initiatives, and cost optimization efforts.

• Support product launch execution and commercialization decisions through rigorous financial analysis and scenario planning.

Financial Systems, Process, and Scale

• Own and continuously improve financial systems and tools, including NetSuite, Ramp, Stripe, Insperity, Carta, Avalara, banking platforms, and related integrations.

• Design, implement, and refine financial processes, controls, and automation to support growth and operational efficiency.

• Establish and maintain best-practice policies related to cash management, capital expenditures, and internal controls.

Treasury and Cash Management

• Own cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital management.

• Manage day-to-day banking relationships and treasury operations.

• Support fundraising activities, financing processes, and financial diligence in partnership with the CFO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or closely related field; CPA strongly preferred.

• 8-12+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, including responsibility for owning finance operations in a growing organization.

• Experience supporting companies through product launch and early commercial scale, ideally within biotech, life sciences, aesthetics, skincare, or adjacent regulated industries.

• Strong understanding of commercial and R&D-related financial dynamics, including expense classification, accruals, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Demonstrated ability to operate with independence, ownership, and sound judgment in fast-moving and high growth environments.

• Experience working with outsourced service providers and external advisors.

• Advanced financial modeling, analytical, and communication skills.

• Experience implementing and scaling finance systems and processes.

Preferred

• Prior experience as the day-to-day finance leader in an early- or mid-stage rapidly growing company.

• Exposure to physician-dispensed, direct to consumer, and/or hybrid commercial/R&D business models.

• Experience supporting audits, board reporting, and fundraising processes.

Compensation

• Base Salary: $160,000-$190,000 (commensurate with experience)

• Bonus: Annual bonus target tied to performance
